I believe in no God, no invisible man in the sky. But there is something more powerful in each of us, a combination of our efforts, a great chain of industry that unites us. But it is only when we struggle in our own interests that the chain pulls society in the right direction. The chain is too powerful and too mysterious for any government to guide. Any man who tells you differently either has his hand in your pocket or a pistol to your neck.

Artist Highlight: Alex Ross (2012)

Very few artists achieve what Alex Ross has accomplished in his life. If you are a longtime comic fan, you probably know the names of heavy hitters like Neal Adams, John Romita, George Perez and many other classic artist that have such a body of work and such a heavy influence that they can basically do whatever the hell they want in the comic medium, not only because they are talented, because they also have earned it.

Alex Ross added his name to this pantheon producing some of the most memorable comic books in history, even his early works are the product of very well laid out planing, time and talent, the writers who share a credit with him usually help  shape his ideas but every work he’s ever done for either Marvel or DC are conceived by his wild imagination. Marvels, Kingdom Come, Justice, The Earth X Saga. They are all excellent reads that grace our shelves in one way or another and they stand out not only for the epic scope of the story, but also for the unusually beautiful and powerful photo-realistic art.

Make no mistake, the pencil of Alex Ross is a powerful one, he is the artist that will help you answer the question “If these guys existed in real life how would they look like?”. He is THAT talented, and you will never miss the mark when you read a book with the man’s name attached to it.
